The Juggling King concept was born after Guernsey local Jack Gervaise-Brazier had the dream to one day produce the only spirit to be distilled and fermented on the island using locally grown cane. Moving on from the production of ale and gin that has characterised the local alcohol market in recent years, Jack methodically put his plans into motion…and the rest is history. Ron Canuto 7 years comes from the Andes in Ecuador. Here, the sugar cane from which the molasses are made grows at over 2,000 metres above sea level, on which the exceptional rum Ron Canuto is based. The rum also matures exactly here its 7 years, with the height affecting the ageing process. This is why the Ron Canuto also appears a little older than the same old rum, which are stored at a lower height. Peaches, cream and ripe banana

His was adventurous to say the least, seeing him become firstly a pirate; then imprisoned by the current King of England, Charles II; then he was knighted to become Governor of Jamaica and finally created and ran his own Sugar Cane refinery. A white rum which needs very little introduction, Bacardi’s Carta Blanca is incredible popular indeed, seen on backbars around the world. The Bacardi brand originated in Cuba, and the first distillery had a colony of fruit bats nesting in the rafters, hence the bat on Bacardi labels. Suitable for countless cocktails and mixed drinks. Whilst Bacardi is now a World renowned Brand, it’s origins are much more humble and interesting than most might expect. After an earthquake in 1852, Don Facundo lost everything – including a son and daughter to a subsequent cholera outbreak. If that wasn’t enough, his company went bankrupt soon after. Rather than give up, he took his work home where he focused on creating a smooth and elegant rum to replace the then crude, harsh cane spirits. The rest, as they say, is history. The nose is light and fresh with a little spice and pepper, quite spirity. The palate is of medium-body with hints of tropical fruit and a note of dark brown sugar and winter spice. The finish is good with smooth vanilla spice notes.
