It’s a fresh and zesty take on the HP character, switching out the more traditional sherry casks for refill American oak casks and focusing on pear, vanilla and soft spice. It was Magnus Eunson who founded Highland Park, back in 1798. Much is made of his Viking heritage around the distillery and there is little doubt that, being based on Orkney some 16km north of the Scottish mainland, that the climate is certainly pretty wild being surrounded by stormy seas. Despite its remoteness though, the temperature is relatively steady across the year (rarely varying out of between 2 and 16 degrees) which is perfect for maturing whisky. For Triskelion, three legendary Highland Park whisky makers joined forces. Together, Gordon Motion, Max McFarlane and John Ramsay chose and married three principal cask types, with the aim of exploring the influence of wood and cask seasoning. Liquid from first-fill sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads, along with a small number of refill casks was bottled up at 45.1% ABV. Released as part of the Oak Species Maturation Series by Raasay distillery, this latest release has been fully matured in Quercus Humboldtii virgin Colombian oak. The Oak species series was launched to showcase how different species of oak interacts with the Raasay whisky spirit when maturing in cask.. Peated and unpeated Raasay spirit has been fully matured in Quercus humboldtii virgin Colombian oak casks, then bottled in 2024 at 50.7% vol, natural colour and non-chill filtered. Every drop of spirit is distilled, matured and bottled on the Isle of Raasay.

Allt Gleann’, the second expression of single malt Scotch whisky from Torabhaig distillery, released as part of The Legacy Series. This heavily peated whisky was made using a mix of Concerto and Laureate malted barley with an in-grain phenols content of 77+PPM. Matured in a combination of 1st fill bourbon barrels and refill whisky barrels then bottled at 46% vol without chill-filtration or additional colouring. Torabhaig was the first distillery to be build on the Isle of Syke in 190 years.
